Soulmates | closed to Nozaki
"What? Are you late too?" For as long as Chiyo has known, these words have remained stamped across her wrist, a constant reminder of the first words that would spill from her soul mate's mouth before her. She had imagined it would happen in a romantic way- at a fancy party, maybe, or something more candid- running for the train, when someone handsome and breathless tries to catch it too. She hadn't expected it to come from a tall boy, who had fallen asleep climbing over the fence the morning of her entrance ceremony. But it had-- and now, she was so glad it had.
Because Nozaki-kun was her soulmate, in every aspect of the word. She loved him deeply and freely, for every single thing that he said or did. And when she wrote him a confession letter, and he made her his assistant instead, well- she loved him even then. In retrospect, she knows she should have told him about the words on her wrist. But part of her has always been too frightened to ask. What if his tattoo doesn't say "Eh? Yes!", the first words she had spoken to him. And even if it did- what were the chances they were her words? They were too common. They had almost certainly been said to him before, and will be said to him again. Just because he is her soulmate doesn't mean that she is his.
That's alright though. While she longs for him to feel the same for her as she does for him, she'd rather have this than mess it up by telling him. Being his assistant is better than not being near him at all. So, she quietly works away at the page he's passed her, solemn and silent in her thoughts.

The words weren't anything special either. Anyone could've said it. At anytime. Would there be something else to tell his soulmate apart from everyone else once he met them again? It was something that he wondered all the time. Especially when he was surrounded in a crowd of people. He wondered about it constantly.
But today, of all days, he decided that he would wear his short sleeve shirt in public. It was summer afterall... His wrist felt naked, but he felt like it was the time to try to find his soulmate. Or at least attempt to.
The sad thing was...he spent a lot of time with all of his friends. All of them -- even Mayu and Mikoto had matching tattoos of when they first met. It made him...
One person he thought about a few times was Chiyo. He had never seen her tattoo before. Had Mikoto or anyone else for that matter? There was a curiosity that he had about what it might say. But then again...Chiyo had more than likely met someone else. She had a different tattoo than him. Chiyo didn't seem like the type who should be with him for the rest of his life.
Honestly, would he never find them? Would he be alone with his manga? Forever?! That was a scary thought.
He sent Chiyo a message, asking her to meet him in town near the mall and to wear something cool. He still needed to try out things for his manga afterall.

It's after she's already on the train that she realized that she'd left her bracelet at home. It's too late to go back, so she just hopes he won't notice it.
She's still early as she stops at their meeting place, patiently waiting for him to come meet her.

"Sakura, hey." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, "There's supposed to be a live concert at the park, I think. I wanted to see if you would help me take photos for my new chapter. If that's okay."

"Nozaki-kun!" She bounces on her heels. "Y-yeah! Let's go!" Her cheeks flush- she can't help but think of how it sounds like a date.

"...It doesn't even say online. I guess we can go find out?"
no subject
"Sure. Let's go find out."

He's nervous. It's obvious. Why is it so obvious? Why does he look angry? Oh. He decides to look down, pocketing the phone. He's thinking about something for a moment. Before Chiyo can even say anything, he's pointing to where the concert is being held. His tattoo is obviously something small. It's not any big words. Even from a glance, anyone could tell.
"Lets go head over. Maybe we can figure out what kind of music is playing."
no subject
"A-alright! Let me know what I can do to help!" She's his loyal assistant after all. "...What kind of music do you like, Nozaki-kun?" She knows the answer already, but it's good conversation.

"What kind of music do you like, Sakura?" Maybe he would remember actually.

Nozaki, no. No, Nozaki, no!
"...I didn't know you had a tattoo." Already. He meant to say that. It's the usual monotoned voice, with just a pinch of interest hidden in there. As usual, he's trying to seem like it's not a big deal. Or maybe he doesn't want her to know it's a big deal to him right now. That it's been on his mind for a while...
"Mikoshiba and Mayu's are silly. Have you read them before? They're even in text font, which is odd." Now he was being obvious with his concern. He was the older brother and hadn't found his soulmate.

Ah. He was talking about Mikorin again. How mood dampening. "Only Mikorin's. He's very defensive about it." Like he is with everything. "It's nice that they found each other, isn't it?"

"Hey, Sakura..."

"We should get over there soon. It sounds like the music is starting."
no subject
"Right, let's go. We wouldn't want to miss it."

"Maybe we're just early..." Nozaki frowns, reaching into his shirt pocket to take out his camera. Nothing much a going on for a good two songs but people begin to come over once they start to hear the music, either to watch or to hang around with other friends who wanted to see it.
Nozaki seems to cheer up, listening to the music. There's not a lot of photo opportunities, unfortunately. But once there are more people around them, Nozaki reaches a hand over to Chiyo's. He hooks his pinky with her's, hoping she'll stay close so they don't get separated. It was the only thing he could think of without grabbing her hand.
